6. Shetland Sheepdog
Shetland Sheepdog, also known as Sheltie, is a breed of breeding dogs. The original name of this breed Shetland Collie, but this caused controversy among Border Collie breeders at that time, though the name of the breed was officially changed to Shetland. This little dog is intelligent, vocal, excitable, energetic and ready to please and work hard. The race was officially recognized by The Kennel Club in 1909.
The early history of Shetland Sheepdog is not well known. Although of dark origin, what is known is that the Sheltie is not a direct descendant of the collie. The Sheltie is a descendant of small specimens of Scottish Collie and King Charles Spaniel. It was developed to take care of the tiny Shetland Islands sheep, whose rugged and stormy shores have produced other small animals such as the Shetland pony. Today, he grew up as a farm dog and a family pet. They were originally a small, mixed-breed dog, often only 8 inches to 12 inches tall at the shoulder, and it is believed that the original Shetland grazing dogs were the Spitz type, and crossed them with colleys Britain mainland.
