7. Boston Terrier

The Boston Terrier is a breed of dog native to the United States. This "American Gentleman" was accepted in 1893 by the American Kennel Club as a non-sporting race. Color and marks are important to distinguish this breed from the AKC standard. They must be black, tabby or sealed with white markings. The Bostons are small and compact, with a short tail and straight ears. The AKC says they are very smart and very easy to train. They are friendly and can be obstinate sometimes. The average life of a Boston is about 11 to 13 years, although some can live until adolescence.
